Third blow slot with Micke and Wilke

For my final blot slot, I designed a salad bowl.  Because I needed a bowl for my salad.

Applying Opal Violet and Gold Aventurine wraps to the first bubble
Overlaying opaque Celadon on the spiral pattern
Jacked and blown out
Transferred, trimmed and opened
2nd bubble (Opaline), blown, bottom picked out and trimmed  (then I got to paddle the lip.woohoo.ha)
Joining the first 2 bubbles
Transferring
3rd bubble added (clear), pulled and trimmed

Celadon lipwrap added.  Soffied into shaped
Final shape.  Perfect for a yummy caesar salad!

Roadtrip to Kalmar

Today after class, a couple classmates and I went on a roadtrip to the big(ger) city!  Kalmar is located 30 minutes southeast of Nybro, and has a population of approx 35 000.

First stop, IKEA!
Anna and I
And for the full Swedish experience...Swedish meatballs, potatoes, gravy and lingonberries from the Ikea cafeteria

Then it was off to the large shopping centre, across the street, marked 'Mode' (meaning 'Fashion' in Swedish).  :)

2nd blow slot with Micke Johansson and Wilke Adolfsson

For my next blow slot, I designed a piece that plays with suspension of one color over another, and how density of the surrounding glass creates variations and magnification.
Color / pattern application
2nd gather
Rice paper
3rd gather
Crown punty
